1. Vision and Mission
The Japanese Archipelago is characterized by forest and coastal ecosystems that are closely connected to semi-developed ecosystems in catchment basins. Field Science Education and Research Center (FSERC) of Kyoto University has developed the study of connectivity between mountains, humans and oceans, ‘Mori-Sato-Umi Renkangaku’, to clarify the interactions among forest, river, field and coastal ecosystems. Maizuru Fisheries Research Station, one of the two marine stations of FSERC, aims to conduct multidisciplinary studies on coastal organisms and their environment and contribute to university training and social education.
